| Ivan Lendl |

| Grand Slam success evaded Lendl early in his career. He lost four finals before beating McEnroe in a five set epic at the 1984 French Open. Originally dismissive of Wimbledon, he said "grass is for cows", it was the only major title to elude him. Lendl was the dominant player of the post wooden racquet era. A ferocious, hard hitting, big serving baseliner, Lendl was model of professionalism and consistency and as a coach, instrumental in making Andy Murray a grand slam champion. |
