| In 1983 Edberg became the first (and still only) player to complete the junior Grand Slam. Success on the biggest stage followed at the 1985 Australia Open. A serve and volley legend, this quiet Swede had intense rivalries with Becker and Lendl. He finally replaced Lendl as World #1 in 1990 and held top spot for 72 weeks. His last major title would be the 1992 US Open. Aged 26 and recently married to the one time fiancé of Mats Wilander (Annette Hjort Olsen), he faded rapidly. | |
